New spaces and educational proposals at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni

The Laboratorio d'arte of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni reopens with its renovated spaces and educational programs to bring art and the art world to the public using a contemporary approach. Thanks to the collaboration with artists called to realize projects for the younger generations, children and adults have the possibility of taking part in an exclusive opportunity of getting a close-up view of art and its protagonists. The new spaces, which are highly flexible in their use, have been developed by the architect Daniele Durante_studiobv36 e Adele Savino, graphic design Studio Mussetti Rocchi Pavese, and will become centers of research and knowledge production. Constituting an important element in the educational process, the quality of these spaces forms the basis of our methodology because it introduces the young public to the work of art.

A tunnel of light leads one to the atelier and hosts Pénétrer l'invisible, a permanent installation of the French artist Nathalie Junod Ponsard, whose chromatic opening accompanies the visitors, even in a metaphorical sense, to the entrance. The cube awaits us at the entrance of the atelier, a multi-purpose space for activities and installations. The cube is a space within a space, highly versatile with multiple uses: installations, readings, exhibitions, encounters with the artists. In the atelier, knowledge travels through know-how: children and teenagers are invited to make an unusual use of materials and techniques, to invent ways of utilizing signs, to work with all their senses.

The forum of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni is a space for exhibitions, conferences, workshops and a multimedia area. Art, technology and literature will be available to the public. Through the net one has access to virtual documentation and to the global heritage of culture and art, whilst books allow us to find our own time to elaborate a personal experience by looking, seeing, and imagining. The forum features the scaffale d'arte, the workshop's exhibitions, the conferences and meetings with the artists. A wealth of proposals transforms this multimedia space into a world of exchanges, meetings and knowledge in progress.

The aim of our educational method is to accompany the visitor in an experience that not only provides knowledge but stimulates our amazement, an ability to interpret the world, the desire for self-expression and an understanding of others. The activity is divided into two moments: the animated visit favours, through the use of dialogue and a direct encounter with the work of art, an immediate and original reading of the art work, whilst the workshop privileges the dynamic dimension and an active doing. Experimenting with methods and languages stimulates the elaboration of a creative thought and helps us to de-codify and consciously produce new images.
