1942. Inside a Japanese concentration camp, English soldiers are subjected to strict detention under the heels of young Captain Yonoi. Colonell Lawrence can speak Japanese and acts as a mediator, while Yonoi takes a fancy to Major Celliers, an Australian prisoner. Built upon the culture clash of two distant civilizations, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, one of the most famous films by Oshima, is full of amazing visuals and narrative ideas, enriched by an unforgettable original score by Sakamoto.
