A work of art in 20 minutes, right before dinner

A new edition of spot!, a pre-dinner rendez-vous offering a guide to the appreciation and interpretation of a work of art, is returning to the Palazzo delle Esposizioni following the enormous success of the lectures on Caravaggio at the Scuderie del Quirinale.  To mark the exhibitions on Nature According to De Chirico, Mimmo Jodice and Giulio Paolini. These and Those (The Enigma of Time), running from 9 April through 11 July, we are offering a full program of lectures on works of art by these three great Italian artists.  The lectures are designed to accompany the visitor on a virtual tour in several stages, ranging from the paintings of Giorgio de Chirico to the pictures of celebrated photographer Mimmo Jodice and the installation that Giulio Paolini designed especially for this season of shows and to tie in ideally with the exhibition on De Chirico.
The event, organized by the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo's Educational Services - Art Workshop, which is due to get under way on 15 April, will be hosted by art historian Anna Maria Panzera (Giorgio de Chirico) and by Daniela Lancioni, a curator with the Palazzo delle Esposizioni (Jodice and Paolini).

Nature and architecture merge into full-fledged inventories of symbols to create the backdrop for the life of a legendary figure, which is none other than the painter himself, a bizarre display of the mechanics of his thinking.

Classicism as nostalgia, idealization, melancholy. This is one of his numerous attempts to reaffirm romantic sentiment in a world that appears to freeze in its own void.
