Alice's Adventures in Wonderland through the art of Yayoi Kusama

book launch and workshop for children aged 7 to 11

"I, Kusama, am the modern Alice in wonderland."

Yayoi Kusama

Lewis Carroll's great classic story for children and the psychedelic dot-based art of Japanese illustrator Yayoi Kusama come together in a surprise encounter in this wonderful book recently published in Italy by Orecchio Acerbo.  Kusama's dreamlike images made up of coloured dots accompany and enrich the text without ever attempting to illustrate it in any literal sense, while playful examples of the printer's art help to enliven the tale.

To mark the occasion, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni's Art Bookshelf has organised a worshop for children aged seven to eleven designed to allow them to delve into the pages of the book, to plunge with Alice into the search for a white rabbit, to drink weird potions that will make them shrink, and to vanish into thin air like the Cheshire Cat.

Letters large and small in odd shapes and dozens of coloured dots offer an original reinterpretation of the most intense episodes in Lewis Carroll's novel.
